| Change of Police Jurisdiction beginning October 2011 |
| You may have recently seen some of the North Chicago Police Department joining the Great Lakes Police Dept accompanying them through the Great Lakes neighborhoods. Beginning in October 2011 North Chicago Police Department will begin patrolling the Forest City neighborhoods of Forrestal, Halsey, and Nimitz on a regular basis and will be the authorized security department. The Great Lakes Police Dept will only be patrolling the government owned buildings such as the Navy Lodge and NEX. All regular and 911 calls will go through the North Chicago police department as of October 2011.
Our Forest City Neighborhood office located inside the Great Lakes Community Center at 2007 Virginia Ave, Suite 100 will be sending out information that you may find informative as we begin this transition. We will send out our monthly newsletter, mass emails, and flyers for special news or events. Also, posted on our website we have included the link for the City of North Chicago. Our neighborhoods will continue to follow our policies that we have in place and also the City of North Chicago city ordinances, both of these together will work to insure a nice place to call home for you and your family.
